A program in Trenton City Council Chambers called Freedom and Independence presented by The New Jersey Italian and Italian American Heritage Commission and the Honorable Mayor Tony Mack. The ceremony commemorated the birthday of Giuseppe Garibaldi, an Italian general, politician and patriot, born on July 4, 1807, considered as one of Italy's "fathers of the fatherland" and he personally commanded and fought in many military campaigns that led eventually to the formation of unified Italy.
