At Dragonfly Farms, on Kuser Road in Hamilton, New Jersey recently began selling hydroponic plants, which grow not in soil, but in LECA (lightweight expanded clay agregate) pebbles. Supplier Arlene Macallister says that the porous nature of the LECA pebbles allows more oxygen to get to the roots of the plant resulting in healthier plants.
