Better Beginnings Child Development Center in Hightstown on Friday, October 12, 2012. The United Way of Greater Mercer County has cut fourth quarter funding to a half dozen Mercer County nonprofits and agencies and will cut another $635,000 in funding in 2013 after dipping into cash reserves last year when donations declined. Better Beginnings, which provides affordable child care to working parents in Hightstown and East Windsor, is one of the affected agencies this year and is slated to see its funding cut in 2013 as well.
