Nathaniel Matthews, a Philadelphia resident shot in Trenton in May, sits in a room in his mother's house in Philadelphia that is his world most of the time. He only leaves the house for doctor visits. Matthews was in a coma for weeks but made a near-miraculous recovery, though he still has trouble breathing and it may take him a year to be able to walk again.
